Devlog #7 The future of cooking souls and a new enemy


Hello everyone,

today I have some news to share regarding Cooking Souls and its future.

 

The new team constellation

We've come a long way with our study project, but it's been some time now, and we have to move on. Therefore, only I (Tim W.) will continue working on the project in the future. Nevertheless, I would like to thank Jonas and Tim S. for all the great work we've done together so far.

 

The Future

First, I want to work on completing a prototype. This will probably include the ravioli and castle dishes on the Microwave and Pan stages. After that, I'll decide how and whether to proceed. I'd really like to expand this project into a full-fledged game, but I'm facing a few obstacles, especially regarding pixelation and sound design (I'm not particularly good at either).

 

New Player Sounds

The game now makes sounds for the following actions:

  • Jumping
  • Punching
  • Hitting something with a punch
  • Blocking
  • Parrying

Most of these sounds are still placeholders, which is why some of them still seem a bit out of place. So don't worry.

In addition, the overall volume, music, and SFX volume can now be adjusted via the settings.

 

New Enemy: Lettuce 

I've finally added the lettuce as an enemy for the Burger dish. It has two attacks:

  • Rolling mini lettuces
  • Transforming itself into a lettuce head and rolling towards the player
