Devlog#3 Big Menu Update!

Hi everyone,

today, we have some pretty cookin news for you. ;)

Weekly Team Hours Estimations

  • Jonas Nuber: 3h
  • Tim Schöndorf: 5h
  • Tim Wortmann: 15h

Redesigned Main Menu

We reworked our main menu, to make it more matching to the dish menu style.

Scene Transitions

We also worked on new scene transitions. We have two different new transitions. A cross-fade and a circle swipe (Props to Brackeys :D). In the current V0.2 there is just the circle swipe visible.

Pause Menu

We finally implemented a pause menu. It can be opened or closed using the keyboard with Escape or with the controller using the Options button. Using the pause menu, you can either navigate back to the game, to the settings (to do for next week) or back to the dish selection.

Difficulties

The difficulties are also new. They can be selected in the dishes menu and are shown during the fight. The following difficulties have been implemented so far:

  • Snack Bar (Ravioli has only the Scream-Attack | TomatoSauce has only the Airblast-Attack | Blob has only the Soldier-Attack)
  • Bistro (Ravioli has all Attacks | TomatoSauce has all Attacks | Blob has the Soldier- and the Vomit-Attack)
  • Restaurant (Ravioli same | TomatoSauce same | Blob has all Attacks | All Enemies deal Damage x 2)
  • Star Restaurant (Ravioli same | TomatoSauce same | Blob same | All Enemies deal Damage x 3 | Enemy Attack Cooldown / 2)

Lighting

As a small feature, we have installed a lighting system to make the light bulb in the microwave light up. Was that unnecessary? Perhaps...

Menu Music

We now have cozy menu music and epic fight music. But be warned, it is still a bit loud.

Hey Cooking Souls Team,

Love the new menu update! Have you thought about adding a "Book" opening for the main menu? It could add even more immersion. Keep up the great work!

Team: AetherArena

Yes, we actually have. The asset pack that we use for the menu even includes animations like this. Unfortunately only in the paid premium version. But maybe we'll implement that later in the project.
