Devlog#2 Our first prototype


Hello Guys, today we want to announce our first prototype version of the game:

Team Hours Estimations (All work till now)

  • Jonas Nuber: 3h

Main Menu

There is now a main menu, where you can navigate out of the game, to the settings (not implemented yet) and to the dish selection menu. 

 

Dish Menu

Then there is a dish menu, where you should select your stage (microwave, pan, pot, cutting board) and a dish on this stage. On this menu there is at the moment just the dish ravioli with tomato sauce, but there will follow more soon. In addition to that, you can change the difficulty, which should be implemented after next week, to the ravioli dish. There is a placeholder selection for the equipped seasoning too. 


 

Ravioli (Ingredient)

Our first enemy of the Ravioli-with-Tomatosauce-Dish is the Ravioli Enemy. It can't walk and has two attack patterns:

  • Dash (Equips flying glasses and dashes in the direction of the player)
  • Scream (Shoots little ravioli projectiles in the direction of the player)



Tomatosauce (Ingredient)

The second enemy of the Ravioli-with-Tomatosauce-Dish is the Tomatosauce Enemy. It can walk and has two attack patterns:

  • Tilt (Tilts in the direction of the Player and shoots a tomato sauce beam out of its top)
  • Air blast (Flies to the top of the stage and shoots an air blast, shoots a tomatosauce beam out of its bottom)

(Isn't black in the game)


Blob (Ingredient)

The boss of the Ravioli-with-Tomatosauce-Dish is the Blob. It can walk and has three attack patterns:

  • Vomit (Vomits a small ravioli enemy, that can only dash)
  • Splash (Jumps as a liquid in the direction of the player)
  • Soldier (Transforms into a soldier and shoots tomatoes at the player)


Current Player Movement & Actions

  • Walk
  • Crouch
  • Jump
  • Double Jump
  • Attack
  • Block
  • Parry Projectiles (Block with right timing, let projectiles shoot back at the enemy)

Great progress on the prototype, team! It's exciting to see Cooking Souls taking shape with the addition of the main menu and dish selection features. The detail you've put into creating enemies like the Ravioli and Tomatosauce adds depth to the gameplay. I'm particularly intrigued by the Blob boss and its unique attack patterns.

The variety of player movements and actions, from walking and jumping to blocking and parrying projectiles, promise dynamic gameplay experiences. It's evident that a lot of effort has gone into this, especially with Tim Wortmann's significant contribution of 100 hours, but why do the rest of the team members have so little?

I'm looking forward to seeing how Cooking Souls evolves further. Keep up the fantastic work!
